Being present in the past @ Green-Wood Cemetery

More than two tempest-tossed months have gone by.

Perhaps the colder weather, and fewer bike rides to provide exploration opportunities. Perhaps the more intense search for employment to sustain life in this magical environment. Perhaps more of the endless wonderful movies and concerts and events which this city provides. Perhaps the many books read on the many subway rides. Perhaps tempest-tossed by love.

This Saturday I finally got to Green-Wood Cemetery (founded 1838) - a favorite place in Brooklyn I have wanted to revisit since I moved back to the city. (The cover for Smegma the Magazine issue #2 was photographed there, by me, many decades ago.)

The views from the high areas are spec-
tacular, with
panoramas including the Manhattan skyline, New Jersey and Staten Island.

Tammy joined me for the adventure.
She lives in Harlem and doesn't have much experience of Brooklyn. She's a writer.  She's been here 10 years and loves New York City. She is my exploring partner. She likes a song by the Eurythmics. Where do we begin? We had set aside 2-3 hours on this chilly day to wander around the 478 acres.

Will have to come back when it is warmer - visit some of the famous people - including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joey Gallo, Leonard Bernstein, William "Boss" Tweed, Margaret Sanger, and many many others. And they will wait for us.

Very memorable explorations that day! I'm looking forward to many, many more. Brooklyn, Harlem and beyond!

I wasn't sure if that great cloudy/sunny sky would come through and it really did.
