The Last Few Days of This Familiarity
My daily swim in this sea of diversity.
Observing the seemingly daily changes of the neighborhood - the upscale new restaurant across the street next to the Pleasant Stay transient hotel ~ the old baptist store-front churches next to the sterile new condominiums, sleek new bike shops alongside Goodwill and dollar stores, African buffet restaurants near hipster-wifi coffee shops. All shades of skin color, languages and economic situations - as I walk to Franklin Street, on the C Line, going to work, going to that other island, Manhattan.
And the return in the evening - to my garret - the top window above the doorway - of 524 Classon Avenue - home for 2+ years.
