The external world was in turmoil. War was being sold with the usual deceptions — and once again, bought. 

As Major General Smedly Butler spelled it out in 1935, it was • The War Racket. 

The internal muses were on hiatus. Words bubbling under the surface, not finding routes to emerge. 

And so . . . what they call visual art. 
Not words, not music—but hopeful.

Once a day for the 31 days of July the pilgrims would set off in search of illumination.

This is the second week's report.
